Joe Sylvia, Data Center Operations Technician at Green House Data

We return to our ongoing blog series in which we introduce you to the staff that makes your IT infrastructure tick. This week, meet Joe Sylvia, Data Center Operations Technician here at Green House Data.

Which office do you work in? Are you originally from the area?

I work at the Cheyenne data center. I am not originally from Cheyenne. I am from Southern California. Westminster, CA specifically.

What are your favorite things to do in Cheyenne?

I like to go out and eat, anywhere I can. I like the local music scene and going to the movies. I enjoy taking my kids to the park and playing soccer with them.

How long have you been in the technology industry?

I have been in the technology industry for a little over two years.

How did you first get interested in IT?

I first started to get interested in IT when I was a child. I loved taking apart computers and various other electronics, although my mother wasn’t a fan of that. Ever since then I’ve had an interest in IT.

What are some of your favorite work projects? Least favorite?

My favorite work project was building the storage cages in the shipping/receiving area in the back of CHYDC02. My least favorite project was building the A-100 cage.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, trail riding, anything outdoors really. Also coaching soccer and baseball, playing the guitar, watching my kids argue/fight, hanging out with my wonderful wife and eating. Did I mention that already?

Coffee or tea?

Coffee.

Star Wars or Star Trek?

Star Wars.

What do you like about working at Green House Data?

I love the comradery between everyone at Green House Data. It is an easy going company to work for. Even when the going gets tough and there are time constraints to meet. Green House Data is family focused and that is a big plus for me. The flexibility here is amazing.
