The Challenge

Pisteyo’s on-premises SQL Server environment created several barriers to growth.

Scalability Constraints

The legacy environment struggled to handle increasing data volumes and concurrent users. Performance slowed during peak demand. Scaling required hardware upgrades and long procurement cycles.

THE SOLUTION

Migration to Azure SQL Database

Pisteyo partnered with Lunavi to migrate from on-premises Microsoft SQL Server to Azure SQL Database, a fully managed PaaS database engine.

Azure SQL Database provides built-in intelligence, high availability, and elastic scalability without infrastructure management.

Approach

Assessment and Migration Planning

Lunavi used Azure Data Studio to assess the existing SQL Server environment. The team evaluated schema compatibility and identified required refactoring. This created a clear migration roadmap.

Database Migration Execution

Lunavi used Azure Database Migration Service (DMS) to orchestrate the migration with minimal downtime. Continuous synchronization allowed validation before final cutover.

SQL Refactoring

Schemas, stored procedures, and queries were optimized for Azure SQL Database. This enabled intelligent query processing, automatic tuning, and elastic scaling. Performance improved without requiring a full application rewrite.

Application Integration and DevOps Enablement

Azure SQL Database was integrated with Azure App Service and Azure DevOps. This streamlined deployments and improved operational consistency across the application stack.

Validation and Optimization

Lunavi conducted end-to-end testing across performance, reliability, and functionality. Copper continued to operate seamlessly in the new environment.
