The news is out: Green House Data has expanded to Atlanta, GA with the acquisition of Cirracore, an enterprise cloud service provider.
While we’re naturally excited about retaining their talented engineers and welcoming the leadership of new CTO Fred Tanzella, there are some other reasons we decided to head to the ATL.

The capital of Georgia has the third-highest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the United States, with an impressive roster that includes Coca-Cola, Delta, Home Depot, UPS, Chick-fil-a, Pandora, and MailChimp. In 2014, it was ranked the #1 city for low cost of doing business.
The cost of living, too, is relatively inexpensive compared to other cities, helping to keep our costs down as a company and allowing our employees to live comfortably.
Georgia is home to 13,000 or more technology companies, according to the Metro Atlanta Chamber. In 2014 it was ranked as one of the top 20 metro areas in high-tech job growth, and in 2015 it was named the 6th fastest growing market for tech talent. Cybersecurity, financial tech, digital media, and software organizations have all sprung up in the region, including at startup hubs like Atlanta Tech Village. One study found that a third of Atlanta jobs are from startups.
Atlanta has the busiest airport in the world. While that sounds daunting, it means the infrastructure is there to get in and out of the city rapidly. In fact, the airport has been ranked the most efficient airport as well as the busiest.
The greater Atlanta metro area is also the ninth largest metro in the country, making it the transportation and communications hub of the southeastern United States. Placing IT infrastructure in Atlanta enables access to large markets in Florida, Texas, and up the east coast.
The city has set itself up for sustainable long-term growth, ranking as a popular destination for millennials moving cross-country and diversifying its economy. The market overall is growing rapidly and Atlanta has found itself listed as a Global City of the Future. From 2015 until 2040, the 20 country region encompassing Atlanta is expected to add 2.5 million residents.
Green House Data’s newly acquired facilities in the Equinix data centers include the ability to cross-connect directly to over 180 network and service providers. That’s only a small portion of the overall IT infrastructure in Atlanta. Site selection group identified Atlanta as one of the top 10 largest data center metro areas in 2015.
For Green House Data, the purchase of Cirracore dovetails with our current product offerings extremely well, allowing a relatively seamless transition as we integrate systems and connect our data center sites.
For customers, adding Atlanta is a good option for local offices, an additional site for redundancy or disaster recovery failover, or to reach a new, growing market. Ultimately, these new cloud data centers and colocation sites spell opportunity for all.
