...and we're back! Get to Know Green House Data puts our regular IT and cloud-focused content on pause for a bit, as we chat with some of the employees that make it all happen. This week Dan Cartin, Director of Strategic Accounts & Sales Operations in our downtown Denver office, explains how to win over Costa Ricans and more.
I work out of the Denver office, but I'm originally from Tucson, Arizona. I have been living here for the last 10 years.
My wife and I were here visiting family for about a week, fell in love with the city and ended up buying a house before the trip was over. No job prospects or anything planned out, just thought it was a cool place to be.
Anything outdoors. I love the water, so I like to go white water rafting, SUPing, and just hiking near lakes and rivers. My son plays soccer for one of the big clubs here so we spend a lot of time doing that. I also love the craft beer scene around here, and I’m always down for checking out the rooftop bars and new breweries.
18 years. I was in IT sales for the first 10 years, then got out for the next 6 years, and have recently found myself back in IT. In my opinion, it’s the best industry to be in.
I enjoy data and analytics, the consultative aspect of sales, and helping customers figure out ways to run their businesses more efficiently and cost-effectively.
My least favorite, which I’m sure others can relate to, are meetings to schedule other meetings.
I play, watch, talk, and dream about sports, but I don’t necessarily have favorite teams. I also read a lot of history and play trivia games, and especially enjoy learning about foreign countries and other cultures.
Mountains for sure.
Cultural heritage aside, I’m a donut guy. Don’t tell my office mates, but I’m usually the guy that grabs one of each.
Yes, I speak Spanish fluently from my time living in Costa Rica. I was there for 3 years and it was a great time. Costa Ricans really respect people that try to learn their language and adapt to their culture instead of imposing their own, and learning Spanish made the experience so much more rewarding. I try to convince people to go there all the time, and sometimes I plan vacations for them so they can see as much of the country as possible.
I like the level of professional pride Green House Data and the team have in caring about the customers, and the overall industry intelligence of the staff, but I would have to say that my favorite part about working at Green House Data is how involved the executives are with our customers directly.
